Cavcorp has submitted a DA for two new residential towers to be located at 20 Festival Place, Newstead.
Known for creating striking sophisticated architecture, 20 Festival Place marks Cavcorp’s seventh project in the Newstead/Tenneriffe area following 16 – 20 Wyandra Street, Como, The James, Kurv, 60-64 Doggett Street and 43 Wyandra Street Newstead.
The proposal will develop the subject site for a mixed use development involving retail tenancies at the ground level and dwellings at the upper levels.
According to the DA:
The proposal reflects high quality infill development appropriately located to take advantage of the locality’s high frequency transport options, including the CityGlider Bus Service and the Teneriffe Ferry Terminal, and the vibrant range of retail, commercial and entertainment facilities within the surrounding Gasworks Precinct and broader Newstead locality.
Project breakdown:
Stage 1 – A fifteen storey residential apartment tower (190 dwellings, restaurants and shops).
- x26 one bedroom apartments
- x156 two bedroom apartments
- x8 three bedroom apartments
- x9 ground floor retail tenancies
Stage 2 – A twenty-five storey residential apartment tower (176 dwellings, restaurants and shops).
- x40 one bedroom apartments
- x120 two bedroom apartments
- x16 three bedroom apartments
- x7 ground floor retail tenancies
Designed by Orbit architecture, the development includes large rooftop swimming pools, sundeck, bocce green, golf nets and vegetable gardens situated on-top of the towers.
As Brisbane continues to densify, many city dwellers, although living in smaller apartments still have desires to own pets.
This project includes an innovative ‘dog day spa’ situated on top of retail space – complete with a dog wash, dog lounge, open lawn, bbq facilities and a canine designed water playground.
The proposal provides for a mix of retail tenancies at the ground level that will add to the vibrancy of the Gasworks Precinct.
The proposed building heights is in keeping with the building heights envisioned under the Gasworks at Newstead Riverpark Plan of Development.
The DA number for this development is A004034577.
The architecture looks like a pair of 70’s office building. Poorly articulated and dull. Brisbane deserve better.
Idea of a dog day spa is refreshing and encouraging.
you have got to be kidding dogs before children where is the play ground , .
Will not be looking at buying in this building. I am not a dog lover.
Ah yes, the sound of dogs barking mixed with trucks reversing into the Woolworths loading bay. The echoing canyon between Skyring, Aveo-on-Woolies and now Lucent will be put to good use. Noisy and busy doesn’t always mean “vibrant”.
Finally, a property development company that doesn’t discrimate against dog and is pet friendly! Not all four legged pets are noisy especially if well trained along with mine companion which is more senior and doesn’t require a backyard these days! Looking for inner city living that can accomodate for your pets and children are a step in the right direction! Good work Cavcorp! Thumbs Up from me
