Practical completion of the new $200 million Jubilee Place redevelopment is expected in the coming weeks.
The project consists of a new uniquely designed 14-storey commercial building which features an exoskeletal structure that enables a striking cantilevered tower design built over the heritage-listed Jubilee Hotel.
Developed by JGL Properties and designed by BlightRayner, the development includes a new glass canopy which will be able to cater to over 300 people within a new beer garden.
The tower is elevated above a large new plaza between the tower structure and the Jubilee Hotel. The lower levels of the tower are cross-ventilated and accessible to pop-out balconies, with a further garden terrace on the roof.
Built by BESIXWatpac, the tower will achieve a 6 Star Green Star rating and is targeting a 5 Star NABERS Rating and 5 star Gold WELL Building rating.
BESIX Watpac CEO Mark Baker said Jubilee Place was a landmark building that demonstrated and celebrated the capability and strength of the local construction industry.
“Jubilee Place is by any measure an extraordinary building, its unique exoskeleton structure, cantilevered over the adjacent heritage-listed Jubilee Hotel and directly above the Clem7 tunnel, posed significant engineering and construction challenges,” Mr Baker said.
“Together with our subcontractors and partners, we are extremely proud of the outcome.”
In September 2019, a real estate fund managed by Credit Suisse Asset Management purchased Jubilee Place which is anticipated to be completed in the coming weeks. Completion of the Jubilee Hotel component is expected to be completed in August this year.
