Dymocks to Relocate to New Queen Street Flagship Location

A development application has been submitted for the relocation of Dymocks Brisbane CBD store to a new flagship store location located at 76 Queen Street, Brisbane City.

Dymocks Brisbane bookstore which is currently located on Albert Street is required to relocate from their current tenancy in November this year and are well progressed in negotiations occupy the vacant subterranean tenancy where the former Forever 21 store was located on the Queen Street Mall.

Designed by Dovetail Design Group, the proposal includes the complete fit-out of the subterranean tenancy which would include new display areas and cabinetry, flooring and furniture as well as the back of house manages office, storeroom and staff areas. The proposal also includes external signage along the Queen Street Mall.

Currently, there is a council requirement to provide a pedestrian link through the tenancy during Queen Street Mall hours of operation to further enhance access and permeability of Burnett Lane.

The applicant, however, is arguing that there is no need for a pedestrian cross-link due to recent developments activating the Laneway as well as securing a long term ‘high profile tenancy’.

The applicant has instead proposed putting Dymocks branding to be displayed on the Burnett Lane frontage, highlighting that there is an active use at that level.
