A development application has been submitted for the reconfiguration of the rooftop of the Mercedes Benz Autohaus in Newstead to accommodate a new restaurant, bar and function space.
Designed by Paul Kelly Design, along with the function space, the restaurant would also include a reception area, outdoor terrace and public bar.
Internal changes would include changing a small area of the outdoor terrace and raised landscape beds to be converted to male and female toilets servicing restaurant patrons.
The proposed amenities are located in a discrete portion of the rooftop well away from the key corners on the eastern facade and the amenities are not visible from the ground plane.

Following the securement of a tenant for the food and beverage facilities within the building, minor alterations to the rooftop plans are proposed to ensure the tenant can provide an entertainment space consistent with a contemporary Brisbane offer befitting the site’s location and the aspirations of the lifestyle that Mercedes Benz is synonymous with. – Development application

The new alterations will allow for a 153sqm increase in gross floor area of the existing Autohaus building.

The $100 million Autohaus which was completed last year is Mercedes Benz’s largest showroom of its kind in the southern hemisphere and includes a car museum and maintenance facility.
The development application number for this project is A005366112.
