Plans for a new $3 billion casino and residential project have emerged which would see a parcel of land between Sea World and Palazzo Versace hotel turned into Queensland’s newest integrated resort development.
The project would be built and owned by the Chinese owned ASF consortium, and operated by James Packer’s Crown Resorts.
Plans and images of the development have yet to be released however it is understood the project will facilitate a complete redevelopment of Sea World, making it the largest theme park in Australia.
Three residential and resort towers would be built on the site along with a new bridge linking Southport to the new casino on The Spit.
It is understood that community groups are warming to the proposal as it does not include plans for a new cruise ship terminal.
ASF director Louis Chien said the company wants to deliver something truly iconic for South East Queensland.
“It will help raise the profile and the brand of South East Queensland.”
The Queensland Government has promised further community engagement as no formal plans have yet been lodged by ASF consortium.
After losing a bid to build Brisbane’s Queens Wharf Integrated Resort, Crown Casino has expanded its reach within Australia to cover Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and now potentially the Gold Coast.
Singapore called. They want their Marina Bay Sands design back.
Wait are they serious… an exact copy of Marina Bay Sands….
Are they trying to escape design costs? ‘don’t worry guys just copy and paste it’
Most epic Troll ever.
Because that’s what we are. A brand.
I’m laughing really hard right now. Some people are thinking that they are copying the design of the Singapore hotel. It’s just a placeholder, how stupid can you be?
Looks like they cut and paste to make the picture.
The difference between marina bay sands and that one – is that marina bay sands was surrounded by iconic public parks and gardens, and this one is surrounded by expanses of above ground car parking! That area is too special to allow hectares of car parking and bumper-to-bumper traffic across a new road bridge. A light rail and bike bridge maybe. It looks more like the Abu Dhabi version than the singapore one!
Well done
Go ahead ,we need more populations on GC
Err… rip off from Singapore. Please don’t approve this as it will make the Gold Coast the laughing stock of the international community.
Leave the spit alone. There is enough highrise on the rest of the coast.
More development the better on the Gold Coast. Keep it coming.
