A development application has been submitted for the redesign of a previous DA located at 628 Coronation Drive, Toowong by Mosaic Property Group.

The new application, which has been designed by Rothelowman Architects reduces the number of apartments in the building from 130 to 66. The apartment mix has also changed, with the updated design accomodating x40 2 bedroom apartments and x26 3 bedroom apartments.

The exterior design has also changed slightly to accommodate more subtropical design elements.

“This project embodies several Design Principles to provide a unique, contextually responsive design outcome that is driven by the desire to evolve subtropical residential living typologies in South East Queensland for the benefit of both the future occupants and the wider community.” – Rothelowman architects

Development Rundown

  • Reduction in the number of dwelling units from 130 to 66 units
  • Minor amendments to the building envelope to introduce additional articulation
  • Revisions to the external facade treatments to achieve an improved architectural design
  • Improved ground level plane to activate the streetscape
  • Larger private open space areas and a high-quality rooftop space
  • Increased landscaping and deep planting across the site

The proposed development adopts a similar building envelope to the approved development including a maximum building height of 15 storeys.

According to Rothelowman the design employs the ideologies of the Verandah and Bay
Window experiences prevalent in domestic Queensland Architecture.

“The fusion of these two identifiable experiences creates the ultimate ‘Apartment Experience’ where occupants can choose between semi-internal and semi-external private open space. The choice offered to residents within this contemporary outdoor room is the quintessence of luxury and identifies with the discerning owner occupier market” – Rothelowman architects

The development application for this project, available to view on Brisbane City Council’s planning & development online is A005419163.
