Northern Brisbane is set to get a new purpose-built laneway which will house a range of eateries as part of the new Everton Plaza development in Everton Park.

5 Boroughs, Corbett & Claude, Comuna Cantina, Stellarossa and Neighbourhood Market Co are among the first retailers to secure prime positions in the centre and lane.

Bucking the trend of conventional sprawling supermarkets and cookie-cutter centre designs, Everton Plaza will return to its roots as a retail village with authentic experiences and a more ‘village feeling’.

Everton Plaza opened in 1969 and was the first drive-in shopping centre in the district.

The aim of the new laneway which will be known as Park Lane, is to provide a new dining precinct which the creators, property development firm Reds Group believe is missing from the inner northern suburbs.

Designed by Marsden Collective, the lane will retain its original architectural character which will be accentuated with modern design elements and softened with greenery throughout.

According to the Marsden Collective, every part of the lane will be different, it is intended to be an authentic laneway experience and a place of discovery.

Katrina Miranda from Marsden Collective explains. “Elements of the existing buildings will be retained to depict a design story of reinvention with a touch of old-school vibes”.

Tim Johnson, owner of Corbett & Claude and Comuna Cantina said he is very excited about their multi-level, multi-branded concept venue which will open out onto the lane and features it’s very own rooftop deck.

“We’re excited to be doing something unique with this venue. We’re putting both of our award-winning brands together to offer different menus and experiences under the one roof.

Think Italian flare, Latin street food and a colloquial Queensland rooftop deck, all at one address. The rooftop deck overlooks the surrounding suburbs. Perfect for a sunset cocktail with friends,” says Mr Johnson.

5 Boroughs will be bringing their signature American-inspired overloaded burgers to Everton Plaza with their fair share of melted cheese and pickles.

Neighbourhood Market Co is hoping to become a local favourite for fresh sourced produce and deli goods. The owners and brothers, Michael and Peter Michaelides, have grown up in the industry, with their parents Emily & Costas connected to some of Brisbane’s longest standing greengrocers.

“This development really has the makings of something great. A true destination for locals to escape into a different world where there’ll be plenty of delicious food options and activities to do. We’re really excited to be taking our burgers out to the Northside and we can’t wait to get the doors open,” said Todd Clayton, owner of 5 Boroughs.

Hutchinson Builders have commenced construction of Park Lane with completion due summer 2018.
