According to the DA’s public realm design goal:

New cross block links are proposed to provide small scale spaces within the public domain and connections to the adjacent Bakery Lane redevelopment as part of the BCC Vibrant Laneways program.

The podium development seeks to address the historic context and character streetscape of the primary Brunswick street frontage by reinforcing the scale of the development with the adjacent buildings will allow residents to moderate the outdoor living spaces behind to suit a balance of favourable climatic aspects and the proximity to the entertainment precinct below.

The DA number for this development is A004033941.

  • I have not previously commented on this development. I am concerned that a high rise building such as this will impact negatively on the buildings of heritage value in the immediate area. A redevelopment of the site that is capped at a lower level would be more in keeping with the great ambience of this low rise area. I would therefore like to see the building height significantly reduced.
