An updated development application has been submitted by Anthony John Group for an eight-storey mixed-use development featuring 137 residential apartments and ground-level retail in Cannon Hill.

As part of the East Village master-planned community, Stage 2D aims to seamlessly blend urban living with natural surroundings, providing residents with modern amenities while maintaining a strong connection to the adjacent Minnippi Parkland and existing suburban context.

Designed by Blight Rayner Architecture, the development takes inspiration from the surrounding natural landscape and Cannon Hill’s architectural vernacular.

The design features natural materials, rooftop gardens, and landscaped areas that seamlessly integrate the building with the nearby Minnippi Parklands, while also providing residents with a connection to nature and the Brisbane skyline.

Green spaces are a key feature of the design, with rooftop gardens and landscaping incorporated throughout the building. These elements not only contribute to the visual appeal but also align with sustainability objectives, providing natural insulation and improving air quality. Residents will also benefit from panoramic views of the Brisbane skyline, the Brisbane River, and the surrounding parklands.

Architecturally, the building has been designed to minimise its impact on the surrounding area. Breaks in the building’s form allow for natural light and airflow, while strategic orientation maximises access to sunlight and breezes.

Privacy and shading are addressed with balcony screens, which take inspiration from Queensland’s traditional verandahs.

Stage 2D is positioned to play a central role in shaping the future of the wider East Village development. Located at the northern edge of the precinct, it serves as a key access point and connects this new urban hub with Cannon Hill’s existing amenities. Its location near the Cannon Hill Shopping Centre and major transport routes, including Cannon Hill and Murarrie train stations, ensures convenient access for residents.

Connectivity is a key focus of the development. Walking and cycling paths will link the residential precinct to green spaces, retail areas, and public transport, encouraging a sustainable, active lifestyle. With direct access to major roads and proximity to Brisbane’s CBD, Stage 2D offers both urban convenience and suburban living.
