Just days after a development application was submitted to build a new 81 storey retail and residential tower known as No.1 Brisbane, a new development application has been submitted across the road at 33 Queen Street.
Under the proposed plans, the former heritage bank which currently sits vacant will be transformed into a new heritage hotel (bar) featuring a lobby, central bar, large expanses of seating as well as outdoor seating along Queen Street, activating the facade and Queen Street Mall.

According to the DA, the proposal aims to keep with the heritage values of the building and will create a grand design with dark, heritage colours and opulent finishes. The hotel will predominately operate as a bar, with food to be served as an ancillary service.

As part of this proposal, all existing access provisions (staircases, lifts, etc.) both inside and outside the building will be retained.
The DA number for this development is A004679128.
