UNDER CONSTRUCTION: Property giant Meriton will soon commence marketing for it’s second Brisbane residential skyscraper (Infinity Tower). The development company is currently constructing the 75 storey Soleil Tower at 501 Adelaide street. Infinity tower is currently undergoing extensive excavation at the 43 Hearchell St site. |

Mosaic, Fortitude Valley(0) APPROVED: Leighton Properties, the developer of Brisbane’s 400 George St project plans to build a mixed use tower approximately 20 storeys (72m) high located between Ann Street and Wickham Street at the termination of James Street, Fortitude Valley. The tower is designed by architectural firm COX Raynor and is in association with the Brisbane Housing Company, an organisation which provides people with appropriate, secure and affordable housing. The mixed use tower will have a residential, office, community and retail component compromising restaurants, bars and cafes. Numerous ‘sky gardens’ will link the ground levels with the residential recreational level on the 19th floor. The lower 4 storeys of the tower are configured to become serviced apartments or a boutique hotel. Existing trees will create a canopy for street level restaurants and coffee shops which will see the James’ street retail environment expanded. Read More |

The land will be leased from the Southbank Corporation who have ultimate planning controls within the parklands zone. Griffith University’s New Zero Emission Tower(0) PLANNED: Griffith University has received $21m dollars worth of funds from the federal government to build a new zero-emission and self powered solar-hydrogen building. Vice Chancellor Professor Ian O’Connor said the world-class building was key to delivering a genuine sustainable energy option to Australian and global communities.”This building, which will generate its own power supply, is a model for remote communities that are ‘off-grid’ and cannot access power in Australia and across the world,” Professor O’Connor said. “It will also be a pilot for applying this safe, sustainable power supply in urban settings. The latest announcement from the Brisbane City Council to buy back the entire site of the former Milton Tennis centre raises some questions about financial, town planning and social implications. Vision site sold for $40 million(0) Vision site sold to Billberga group for $40 million dollars by Austcorp after it failed to secure financing on the 72 floor skyscraper. The site of the former Vision Tower proposal has been sold to Billbergia for $40 million dollars. Property developer Austcorp who are in liquidation by Deloitte failed to develop the 72 floor mixed use tower due to lack of funding caused by the GFC. The site, which has doubled in value since Austcorp bought it is currently fully excavated and ready for construction to occur. Read More |

Albert Street – Brisbane’s New Subway Station(0) Brisbane will soon have a new underground station at lower Albert street, with the Cross River Rail team releasing plans for it’s newest planned underground station. The subway tunnel, branded as ‘Cross River Rail’ will be designed to hold a capacity of 120,000 people during peak hours and includes four new underground stations which are proposed for Boggo Rd Urban Village, Wooloongabba, Albert St (CBD South) and Roma Street (CBD North). The stations will cost around $100 million each while the total estimated price tag on the Cross River Rail project itself is around $8 billion. The project will be funded using federal and state government funds, while retail and commercial opportunities will be created inside the stations in order to source private sector funding.
